On View | El Museo del Barrio New York:

"Caribbean: Crossroads offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore the diverse and impactful cultural history of the Caribbean basin and its diaspora. More than 500 works of art spanning four centuries illuminate changing aesthetics and ideologies and provoke meaningful conversations about topics ranging from commerce and cultural hybridity to politics and pop culture.  "

New York, Manhattan, 10029

through Jan. 6

In size, cultural scope and freshness of material, the three-museum exhibition “Caribbean: Crossroads of the World” is a big art event in New York City, itself one of the largest Caribbean cities in the world. Be warned: the thematically arranged show throws you into history at the deep end. Almost all the information is strictly visual; there are very few explanatory labels anywhere.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana II presents an exciting taste of flamenco music and dance to kick off our 30th Anniversary Season! Encompassing a range of palos (styles), from the light and carefree sevillanas, a Spanish folkdance with castanets, to the serious and elegant seguiriya, and finishing with the rumba, a form influenced by Caribbean rhythms, this diverse and colorful performance showcases flamenco’s rich culture. Join us for happy hour and a post-performance Conversation with Carlota to discuss flamenco, its origins and get a sneak peek of the Company’s 30th Anniversary activities."
