This Spring, the NYC Department of Sanitation is holding five SAFE Disposal Events (one in each borough) to provide NYC residents with a one-stop method to get rid of potentially harmful household products. If you cannot attend any of the events, see harmful household products for year-round disposal options.

Commonly used household products can be harmful to you, your family, your pets, city workers, and the environment if improperly stored, used, or discarded.

QUARTET
Dustin Hoffman received a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival for his directorial debut QUARTET, a charming and wickedly comic film about redefining old age. Based on Ronald Harwood’s stage play of the same name, the film centers on residents of an exclusive retirement home for musicians. Every year on Giuseppe Verdi's birthday, the residents unite to give a concert to raise funds for their home. But when a former grande dame of the opera fallen (played by Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith) moves into the home, the plans for this year's concert start to unravel.

A Rat's Tail

NYC: Fulton Street Subway StationImage by wallyg via Flickr

we jump off at Fulton Street and there it is. smack in the middle
of the platform: a dead rat.

why let a perfectly good found object go to waste.
especially on a slow day . . . even if it is a carcass.

so we begin to snap pics of the rat.
there we are squatting over the rat  ant shooting it
from different angles when the next train pulls up.

a man gets off the train and as he passes by us he yells out
"hey! why dont'cha just take it home wit'cha?" and keeps on walking.

we yell baack at him
"better'n that, . . . gonna blog it!"

and so we do.
