FOUR MORE YEARS!

we're so obnoxious.

we have a lasting impression of the 2004 Presidential Campaign.

we'd tuned in to C-Span to watch a speech by Candidate Dubya.

 first, the
narrator comes on and explains that the host town in Ohio had a close to 40%{!!!} unemployment rate
because all maunfacturing in the town had moved overseas,
and the local malls, gas stations, Mom-n-Pop shops were hurting and near closing for good.

this was the set-up.

the stage and podium were set at one end of an open sports field,
the crowd had gathered on and around the bleachers facing the stage.

there they were: unemployed fathers with kiddies on their shoulders,
stressed out moms with babes in their arms. bored and penniless teenagers.
all waiting for the Protector of the
Global Market place.

we anticipated quite the reception for King George.

but,
we didn't anticipate this:
FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! USA! USA! FOUR MORE YEARS!

the chant lasted five minutes if it lasted one. we sat there dumb-founded!

well, we've had four years to mull it over, and we believe we get it.

we're in the Matrix, right?
 . . .  it's not real, right? . . . uh . . . hello . . . ? . . . hello?
