Sunday Scribblings: Tattoo
at Floreta's always interesting blog:
THE SOLITARY PANDA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tatoos . . . hmmm . . .
recently we came across this wit:
"Be the first kid on your block NOT to get a tatoo."
we think it cute.
more personally,
we grew up at a time when
dissent
was synonymous with
criminality.
(things have changed?)
anyhoo,
we hesitated on the tatoo fad
because of the personal
identification thingy.
who knew that our life
would turn out
so ordinary?
there were more determinants:
- a erstwhile guru made this comment:
"Only cattle should be branded."
- then there's the urban legend where
tatoo collectors pay premium for
high quality tats.
{ we're partial to cremation
where our ashes may be sprinkled
over Californian Medication,
and passed on the left-hand side
[Dutchy-wise].}
Hello!
Thanks for jumping in at my blog, Poetikat's Invisible Keepsakes. (I know, I'm supposed to be on sabbatical, but I still try to acknowledge any new voices/faces.)
I like the looks of what you've got going on here and can relate to quite a lot of the favourites in your profile, although I'm not a Zombie-fan. I did recently see a trailer for a new zombie-flick that you will undoubtedly love.
I'll be following along henceforth, but won't really get into the swing of things again until October.
See you then!
Kat
Why, Kat, thanks for stopping by!
:-)
hey, relax, have fun, take care of life,
and take your time,
we'll be here to welcome you back.
October?
just in time for you
to shre the title of
that zombie flick.
meantime,
I love tatoos...on the others!
Maybe someday making one have some meaning to me and not doing because everyone has one. Until there i'll be a dissident.
Me too! I like some tatoos and thought a small colorful bracelet would be cute---but NO!! MB
awww thanks for the plug :)
i too hesitate to get a tattoo because of the 'fad' aspect. it seems like EVERYONE has tattoos nowadays (of my age anyway?) that it's probably more unusual not to have any. still, i find the beauty of tattoos very appealing on other people, and have thought about my own if i could find the perfect design with meaning ;)
hey, Cutie,
yes, cultural co-option does dull the senses. BUMmer, no?
:-)
still,
anklet tats ARE cute.
last night i met a young lady
who had a Celtic circle inked
on the top-side of her foot.
she wore flip-flops and the tat was very sexy.
(no foot fetish here. ;-))
Floreta,
we're kinda partial to tats with
an historic/clannish meaning.
tribal tatoos had their moment.
yet,
YOUR design is very original, and the thought of it running up your side is VERY hot.
When my oldest child wanted a tattoo to "be different" like his other friends, I suggested he buy himself a coloring book and markers until the urge went away.
It did. Love the quote about cattle being branded. so so true!
we love the story, Momza, lol!
:-)
the cattle thingy?
this comment was SO influential
that we recall it every, single, time that we've considered tatoos
in any way.
thanks for the visit, Momza.
