At one time
Greenwich Village was THE counter-cultural edge of NYC. It’s been a half-century since the exodus of artists began, and at least a quarter of a century since yuppification drained the last drop of creative lifeblood from this neighborhood.
Today that edge has moved, as it usually does, to neighborhoods where the "professional" dread to tread. Not a problem.
Some folk make "things": art, music, furniture, food, et al,
Other folk make money. Nothing wrong with this . . . until they marry, that is.
Anyhoo, The Village still thrives as a theme park: Bohemia Land, and attracts many; not just tourists.
Thanks to New York University, The New School and other centers of higher learning Academia is abundant . . .
And, KEG 101 is the course of study de la noche. Rainbow yawning has been elevated to an art form, please watch where you step. And only piss BETWEEN cars not on the sidewalk if you please.
All of which brings us to today’s pix. Small businesses thrive by selling facsimiles of what you'd expect in "THE VILLAGE".
Storefronts can get very colorful and attractive and here's one such storefront that caught our eye.
