McSorely's Ale House Anniversary Feb17,1854

McSorley's Old Ale House - Google+:

"The “sawdust on the floors” hasn’t changed since this “must-visit” East Village “landmark” opened in 1854, and today “merry throngs” still show up to drink “nothing but beer” and “soak up the history”; expect “blunt bartenders”, a limited suds selection – “either light or dark” – and “epic numbers of tourists” and “frat boys”; P.S. “they adhere to the motto ‘Drink or be Gone.’”"

New York State Caravan of Corruption – Manhattan | NYC General Assembly # Occupy Wall Street: "CARAVAN OF CORRUPTION – MANHATTAN

The Travelling Caravan of Corruption tour stops in Manhattan. Come to Foley Square at 5:30pm on Tuesday, October 23 to learn the history of the last ten years of corruption in our state government.

For decades, New York has been home to some of the nation’s most crooked, conniving and corrupt politicians. They’ve accepted favors, dodged taxes, and lined their pockets with taxpayers’ cash. Enough is enough.

From Buffalo to Brooklyn, and everywhere in between, we’re taking our creepshow on the road to show what happens when we don’t hold greedy politicians accountable for their actions.

Step right up and learn about this collection of crooks as they:

Siphon money from community programs to buy Yankees tickets
Spend over $20,000 of taxpayers’ dollars on sushi
Dodge hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes
Buy luxury apartments with public money"

NU D'LUX

SALSA
 JULY 29 / 6:30PM AT PIER 84

Nu D'Lux | Hudson River Park: "Whether you’ve been dancing for years or want to learn how to boogie like a pro, Hudson River Park’s MoonDance is your chance to strut your stuff under the stars! MoonDance takes place on Sunday evenings at Hudson River Park‘s Pier 84. Featured styles include swing, tango and salsa.

From the Nu D'Lux website: "Nu D'Lux struck their first chords in Brooklyn, NY in 1995, long before Buena Vista Social Club and the current influx of Son Montuno groups hit Manhattan. From the start, a tremendous love and respect for the great Septetos and Conjuntos of El Son (Cuban predecessor of Salsa) brought current co-leaders Aaron Halva and Jainardo Batista-Sterling together in a great search for their own flavor of this music that continues today."

Free dance lessons begin at 6:30pm courtesy of DANCE MANHATTAN. Nu D'Lux goes on at 7pm!"
