Saturday

friends who frequent this blog have seen similar images before.

we regularly shoot the Ground Zero construction site,
to show the progress being made in the construction
of the FREEDOM TOWERS that will replace the
World Trade Center site of the horrible massacre of 2001.

if you're curious; those bright red girders in one of the slides
are the support beams for Tower One. each beam weighs
several tons!

the people walking around are either new yorkers, tourists
or construction workers (with a few mysterious "others",
such as the local Boat-Rockers Union, for good measure).

the folk with the cameras are the
tourists (they love to take pictures of the blue liners
which are meant to keep their prying eyes from the
work (or lack of) being performed.

the folk with the hardhats are the construction workers.
one of them fell from a girder last week at this very spot.
 :-(

the people with nasty grimaces are native to the Big Apple.

eagle-eyed visitors will notice that these three groups are not
mutually exclusive.

BTW, if you want to find this exact spot, its the corner of
Vesey and Washington Sts.

Thank you for sharing this. We were just in NYC for a family wedding, and our time there was so packed that we didn't have time to make it down to the site.

Interestingly, the Zemanta widget that you have on your blog mentions the USS New York. I WAS able to take a walk near the pier on the morning of its commissioning. I'll post the pics soon.

hey, Carmi,
unfortunately {fortunately?) we're by Ground Zero daily, so much that its a constant in our life. as were the towers. not exactly conducive to closure.

and, no we have not visited the USS New York. hope we don't miss your posting of it. please alert us. :-)

thank you for stopping by.
